Oral Surgery
Our Comprehensive Oral Surgery Services
Although regular dental exams can reduce your risk of serious oral health issues, there are instances in which oral surgery is the best way to preserve the structure of your smile. If you have missing teeth, a dental implant can repair your ability to eat and smile with confidence. If you have advanced gum disease, periodontal surgery can protect you from more widespread damage. At Imagecare Dental in Plano, TX, our doctors can perform a range of surgical procedures to restore your oral health. With state-of-the-art technology and sedation options, we can ensure you are comfortable throughout treatment.
Why Choose Our Practice for Oral Surgery?
When you need oral surgery, it is important to work with a practice you can trust. We offer:
- Sedation Options: We not only provide local anesthesia to numb the teeth and gums, but also sedation to help you relax during treatment. We offer intravenous (IV), oral, and nitrous oxide to meet your needs.
- Affiliations and Experience: As a testament to our expertise, our doctors are affiliated with prestigious institutions such as the American Board of Periodontology, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and the American Dental Association. Our team has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education courses to keep abreast of the latest techniques.
- Financing Options: We accept most insurance plans for medically necessary procedures. We can also help you arrange financing through CareCredit® and Lending Club®.
To make your treatment as comfortable and efficient as possible, our office is equipped with the most advanced diagnostic technology. Using digital x-rays, 3-D scanners, and planning software, we can tailor your treatment to your unique specifications.
Surgical Procedures We Offer
We are proud to provide our patients with comprehensive care, ranging from dental implants placement and preparatory procedures to endodontic and periodontal surgery. We are able to perform nearly all surgical procedures in-office, so you can avoid the hassle of visiting a specialist.
Dental implants are an excellent solution for patients with one or more missing teeth. These small titanium posts replace the dental roots and provide unrivaled support for crowns, bridges, and dentures. We perform digitally guided implant placement for greater precision. This technique can minimize your time in the dentist's chair, shorten your recovery, and result in less overall discomfort.
If you do not qualify for dental implants because of jawbone degeneration, which is common after tooth loss, our doctors can restore your candidacy with a bone graft. Alternatively, patients who wish to avoid a graft may be better suited for All-on-4® implants, which do not typically require augmentation prior to placement.
If you have a low sinus floor, or your sinuses have dropped as a result of jawbone loss, you may need a sinus lift prior to dental implant placement. Performed approximately six months prior to implant surgery, a sinus lift adds volume and density to the upper jaw and creates a strong foundation for dental implants.
In some cases, root canal therapy cannot successfully save an infected tooth. Also known as an apicoectomy, this surgery is performed after an initial root canal procedure has proven insufficient. During surgery, our team will remove any inflamed or infected tissue as well as the end of the root.
Although we will always attempt to save your natural tooth, there are certain cases that require extraction. Socket preservation is performed at the time of extraction. It can help preserve your jawbone in preparation for dental implants.
Tooth extraction may be necessary to remove a severely infected tooth or create room in your smile prior to orthodontic treatment. We have several sedation options to ensure you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
As a periodontal specialist, Dr. Daniel Choi can perform simple and complex wisdom tooth extractions. This includes removing impacted wisdom teeth.
An enlarged frenulum can be problematic, resulting in gapped teeth and speech difficulties. Most often performed on pediatric patients, a frenectomy can improve your child's health and boost their self-confidence.
Whether you have functional or cosmetic concerns related to your gums, we can perform gum surgery in our office. We can perform a gum lift to enhance the symmetry and balance of your smile, as well as periodontal surgery to treat advanced stages of gum disease.
After losing a tooth, the tissue can begin to collapse at the site of the empty socket. A ridge augmentation can restore the natural contours of the gums and jawbone.
